The Garage Sale Find...partially revealed
Ok, I've been getting some nasty emails and comments about the garage sale find I teased last week. I know you want to see what my $25 investment netted me. I started to go through the cards, but I'm not finished so I guess I'll tease you a little more. That should bring on some more nasty comments.
This is a small portion of one of the boxes. There's a large stack of 1986 Topps on the left and a mix of 1986 Fleer with a few cards from earlier in the 1980s. That's a complete 1986 Topps Traded set and a little Homerun Kings set in the blue box. I found at least three of those, complete in the boxes, and another two or three sets loose in the box. At the top right you'll see a complete, unopened Donruss Baseball's Best set from 1988 and on top of that box is a 1985 Donruss Roger Clemens rookie card. I had a pic of the Clemens but it keeps posting sideways. I'll get a scan of it and you'll see why you don't store your cards loose in a big box. Can you say dinged corner? I can. The bottom right portion of the pic shows a Hakeem Olajuwon sticker, complete with top loader, from the 1986 Fleer Basketball set.
Behind the 1986 Topps stack is one of 7 (or is it 8?) boxes of cards that I still need to sort through. The two tubs of cards also had 5 binders. One is full of basketball stuff, one is full of random baseball and the others have complete baseball sets.
I'll disclose the sets next week. I'll also share the contents of that little box of 1986 Fleer Basketball cards.

Some Jackass Wrote on My Card
I'm back from my work trip to Florida and I'm hoping to get to the two tubs of cards I bought the other day at the garage sale at some point. I just wanted to quickly show you what some jerk did to one of my cards.
Whilst in Florida, I thought I would drop by the local high and mighty big box store with the Heritage blasters that came with a blue parallel. You know which one I mean.
I got two cards of note.
This ugly mug surrounded by blue was in one pack. Wow, too close. Funny how that doens't seem to bother me so much with vintage cards.
The last pack in the blaster had this card. You'll notice some jerk wrote on this card down in the bottom left corner. Something about 22/99. Must be some sort of new age cult thing.
Or maybe it's one of the Clubhouse Collection Gold Parallel Relic cards that fall 1:330 packs.
That must be it.

Look what I got for the cost of a blaster
I'm in Florida for a work conference ( roughing it don't ya know) buy before I left I hit up a garage sale and found two tubs of cards. The lady promised toile me a deal and then called her husband who said $50. I walked away.
I returned the next day and before I said a word she offered a 50% discount. Sweet.
You can see what caught my attention in this box. 1986 Fleer basketball. I don't collect basketball, but I know what 1986 Fleer means.

Flattery will get you everywhere
I don't always trade with non-bloggers, but when I do, it works out pretty nice for me. Zach contacted me about some cards and we ended up doing a little deal. I'm doing a little post about it because I'm going to be off for the next week. I'll be spending a few days of Spring Break with my boys and then it's off to Florida for a three day work conference.
Sweet, I know.

Hey look, a tree topper. Thanks to Zach and several others, I've actually accumulated some doubles of the Rangers Cut to the Chase die cuts. Even my son who recently gave up his collection, likes these.
Thanks for the cards Zach. I'll try to post something in the next week, but don't worry if you don't see anything. I'll just be off having fun.
