I feel like a Hamburger

Forgive the stupid title of this post.  My doctor told me I'm pre-diabetic some time back and I'm doing Weight Watchers to try to lose some weight.  I'm down 28 pounds so far and I really could go for a hamburger.

Since I can't have a real hamburger, I suppose I'll settle for a Mark Hamburger with a side of Ogando. This is a 2011 Bowman Sterling dual auto that I picked up in a recent splurge on Ebay.

I do believe, although in my advancing age I may be mistaken, that this is my first 1991 Topps Desert Shield card.  I'd love to have a full set of these.

This was sort of an accidental purchase.  Still, it's Vladdy in a Rangers uniform AND it has a piece of cloth napkin relic!  Sweet!!!

Here is another Tribute Derek Holland auto.  This one is #3/30.  I can't get enough of these Tribute autos.

I picked up this 2008 SPX Michael Young jersey card #10/25 for a decent price.

Back to my love for Team USA stuff.  I picked up this Dawn Harper auto for a whopping 99 cents. That's pretty nice for an Olympic gold and silver medal winner.

This bronze Elana Meyers relic set me back only a couple bucks.

My disdain for sticker autos is well documented, but that's the only way to get these so I'll take it. Adding Julia Mancuso drops one more off the want list.

I have a bunch more Ebay purchases to show off, but I'll stop for now.  Have a happy hump day!

  1. Hamburger! He's a local guy here in Minnesota. The Twins actually picked him up on a minor league deal.
I remember when the Twins traded Hamburger for Eddie Guardado. I had a signed baseball from Mr. Hamburger at Twins Fest the first time he was a prospect. I probably still have it somewhere, but the signature was smudged and faded pretty badly over the years.

  6. I am diabetic. It almost killed me in 2013, I had no idea I was diabetic, and I refused to go to the doctor for how bad I was feeling. Until I collapsed unable to walk anymore, and my family called 911. I came literally 5 minutes short of death.

Good news is, you can eat as many hamburgers as you want...provided you don't eat the bun! Depending on the brand of bun you prefer they could be anywhere from 30-50 carbs. There's no carbs in meat, cheese, or eggs (technically, there is, but it's so low that you'd have to eat like one of those contest-eaters you see on TV before it became an issue).

You definitely want to avoid full blown diabetes if you can. It's not fun to have to poke holes in yourself on a regular basis, and it's pricey. My insulin costs more than $500 a month....takes away a lot of card funds.
