The Greatest Generation

I don't how they did it, other than someone had to, so they did.




Thank God they did.

There aren't many of them left now, some 70 years later.  If you know someone who was there, thank them for me.

  1. My wife's grandfather was on the beach and her step-grandfather was flying on d-day. We had the pleasure of attending the 65th anniversary with the two of them at the D-Day Memorial (~4 hours from my house). It was an incredible experience.

  2. Listing to NPR describe the silent, motionless salute held by the veterans still alive an in attendance at the ceremonies today gave me a mental image that nearly put tears in my eyes. I can't imagine -- nor do I want to -- what that was like.
