It's October 1st, so that can only mean one thing. One thing besides the PATP anniversary.
It's Contest Time!
This month's contest is "easy as pie" to enter.
Well, easier than pulling one of these pie cards anyway. (Image "borrowed" from Jaybee's bdj610's Topps Baseball Card Blog).
All you have to do to enter this month is make a comment about the first year of this blog. That's it.
The winner will get...something, perhaps packs, perhaps cards from a wantlist. It depends on what I can get together. You can ask any of the winners of the previous contests, I think they would say they were happy with their prize. The winner will also be eligible for the end of year winner's contest.
That's it. Have a great day today.
I...like it? Lol.
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, I originally loved the actual PATP posts you used to do a lot with the "does he score or not" type questions. But I like the direction you've gone with the new contests and moves towards packs and general sports stuff in general. Hard to believe you started blogging after a lot of the rest of us, because it feels like I've been reading your blog forever! But keep up the good work!
first off, I'm still upset about there not being any cake.
ReplyDeletesecond, I've noticed over the past year a distinct lack of Braves coverage. Something that all great baseball blogs need.
third, you being a Texan, I expected more Chuck Norris appearences. I'm on the fence about this.
fourth, other than that, pretty damn good job!
Uh...keep up the great work!
ReplyDelete*wipes sweat off of brow*
I have enjoyed reading PATP. Congratulations on making it a year.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started reading blogs, yours was one of the very first ones I bookmarked. I really enjoy reading PATP.
Congrats on your first year. One thing that I like is the changing header cards. Those 56s have a lot of "plays at the plate" in the inset photos.
ReplyDeleteAs another blogger who tries to maintain a fairly consistent output, I've enjoyed reading your always varied, and always interesting, posts over the last year or so!
ReplyDeleteI like all the Yankee hating!
ReplyDeleteGo Rangers.
Congrats on the first year bro!
ReplyDeletemoe.
The first year... It was a good year. Here's to many, many more. :)
ReplyDeletecongrats and happy 1st year homie!! The blog has allot of great things about it but the great pictures of the "play at the plate" you show are too cool. I hope you keep this great blog going for many years and i'll be there right with ya reading along!!
ReplyDeleteI love coming to your blog each day to see what you have up. I hope to be as good when I hit my 1 year mark! Thanks for the fun, and informative reads.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the cards you post on your banner and I feel like you update them at very appropriate intervals: not too short and not too long between switches. I will continue looking forward to them!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 1st yr! Glad I found it this summer.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that a rattlesnake once bit Chuck Norris and after 5 hours of excruciating pain, the snake died.
ReplyDeleteThere ya go Canuck!
Congrats on the 1yr dude! This was among the first handful of blogs I found and read on a regular basis. So for that, you deserve a thanks!!!
Congrats on the first year!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the first year. Your success has been fascinating to watch. Wishing you more in the future.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your first year. It has been a joy reading and trading with you.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the first year. I enjoy seeing all the cards of plays at the plate from the '56 set. I'll probably never have one of those cards in my hands. It is writers like you and all the other great bloggers out there that inspired me to try my hand at this game. I hope to be half as good as all you guys someday. Keep up the great, entertaining, and informative work.
ReplyDeleteOnly been reading (in Google Reader-just noticed I'm not a follower) for a couple of months. But I like it! I also like the pie in the face cards. Somehow, I find them hilarious!
ReplyDeleteHey great year and keep it up hopefully you can get a second wind and make it thru your second year! lol
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it has only been a year. It seems like you have been around for some time now.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up!
Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first year!! Play at the Plate is one of the blogs that I read almost daily because you post daily, if not more than once a day and you always have something interesting to say/show! Thanks and keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the one year! You have a great blog and it's one that encouraged me to start one of my own. Awesome content with some great humor makes your stuff a must read. Thanks for the great work.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a great first year of trading with you--I needed somewhere to send all those Rangers! Love the variety of posts and witty insight!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog. The concept is terrific, collecting cards with plays at the plate in the picture. Love the card headers.
ReplyDeleteI just love it that somebody has a site featuring cards of catchers - and your blog has a perfect name.
ReplyDeleteI remember when you were just a wee lad, claiming my lame hits. Now you are all grown up with a blog of your own. They grow up so fast!
ReplyDeletehuge fan...keep it up!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a great year! I actually haven't been following you for that long, but we did exchange info about your trip this summer to Colorado and the Rockies/Cards game! Cheers to your son for getting Seth Smiths auto (who just happened to hit the walk off to win the game)!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably late to this party but congrats on a year. Your site is in my top 10 of daily reading. Your contests are always fun, your ideas are great and you show that you take pride in what you do. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say the variety... Like everyone else I love the '56 cards and the stories behind them. I love the well researched and informative posts. I also love all the trading you do. I like the personal stories. The dark days of addictive ripping, stories about your boys sharing the hobby with you and the general humor (like finding packsearchers, etc.). I like the quick posts about the Rangers and... Well, I just love it. I remember emailing with you before the blog started, I am glad you started this blog and am delighted with how successful it has become. You are up there in my top 3 blogs I read daily even when I don't have the time and that counts for something... I actually read yours first because I know by the time I click on Night Owl I am in for a LONG ride... Cheers and congrats on a great blog!!! It is blogs like Play at the Plate that keep me going when I get burned out... Thanks for that! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed all of the different cards you have used as a header. Congrats on your first year in the card blogging world!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on making it a whole year. I've really enjoyed reading your blog, and I love the PatP cards you've been featuring as your banner. Congratulations are also in order for the Rangers making it into the playoffs. Good luck against the Rays in the LDS.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a year already? I remember doing a trade with you right out of the gates.
ReplyDeleteHey, if the Rangers end up at Target Field, grab a ticket and hop a flight and we'll discuss cards.
Love the ever-changing front page card.
I've only been part of the baseball card blog community since February of this year, but there were a handful of blogs that inspired me to try my hand at making one of my own and you guessed it - your's was one of them.
ReplyDeleteI may not be a Rangers fan, but I will be pulling for them to take out the Rays and Yankees if the stars all line up!
Maybe I'm late to the party, but love the blog. Keep on posting!
ReplyDeletecongrats on the Anniversary, I'm getting close to mine as well. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteIn the first year of the blog you have given me a consistent read almost every night. I really like the play at the plate theme. It's been one of my favorite reads since you started blogging. Congratulations on one year of blogging.
ReplyDeleteCongrats bud, and when are you going to start that 1956 Topps set anyway?
ReplyDeleteAt long last, the entries are closed. I'll randomize and post in the morning.
