A 2011 Topps Substitute

I went to Target to get my 2011 Topps fix and they didn't have anything new and glorious on the shelf. I had to satisfy my pack-busting crave so I bought one of these.

You've probably seen these Fairfield repacks. This one has 4 packs for $4.99. I could see a 2009 Heritage and 2009 Goodwin pack on the front. The two packs I couldn't see were a 2007 Upper Deck Series 2 pack and a 2005 Pros and Prospects pack.

I didn't expect to get much, but I was very happy with what came out of the last pack.

A Joe Mauer Goodwin Jersey card. It's a nice feeling to pull someone you collect and anytime I get a Joe Mauer card, I'm happy. Getting a relic out of a repack is just icing on the cake.

Now, where is that 2011 Topps??

  1. That's pretty cool! I'd take a Mauer relic for $5.

  2. Schweet, nice pull. I'd love to have a Mauer relic or auto in my collection. The first baseball jersey I ever bought, only a fan version from a Target in Mn., was a Mauer. My first pup's name was Seven, we actually lost her to cancer the day we left for that Minnesota trip, so I collect any player wearing a #7 jersey (I also collect the Twins cause my wife is from Mn.)

On a related note: my first relic pull ever was a Jeter Faces of the Game gray jersey swatch, from a Target bargain $1.59 pack!

  3. My Target doesn't have 2011, either. Seriously, get on the ball!

  4. I expect 2011 topps will finally make it here around opening day. Hits from discounted stuff are the best though! I got '09 A&G Bazooka back parallel /25 (still love how these megarare cards are hand-numbered in cheapo pen, lol) of Casey Blake and a Hakeem Nicks topps Chrome rookie auto from packs from the $1.59 bin at Target at the very end of last year.

  5. Wow... great Mauer relic. I love 2009 Goodwin... I'd buy a few of these Fairfield repacks if I saw Goodwin packs on top. Congratulations!
