The Doldrums...

According to Webster, the definition of doldrums is:

1 : a spell of listlessness or despondency
2 often capitalized : a part of the ocean near the equator abounding in calms, squalls, and light shifting winds
3 : a state or period of inactivity, stagnation, or slump

The third definition applies to the current condition of the hobby which would put my mood up there with definition number one.

I've purchased all the 2010 Heritage I'm going to buy, which amounts to about 2 blasters worth.

I don't want to buy any more 2010 Topps Series 1...I'm having fun with the MCG, but enough is enough.

I've been in a trading lull, which means I just have a few deals working. I still need to find cards for a couple of people who have offered me stuff off my wantlists...I haven't forgotten you.

I'm glad the baseball season is underway, but that doesn't necessarily feed the hobby hunger.

How about upcoming releases?

Topps National Chicle comes out 4/28/10--I've seen the sheets on it, but other than the on-card autos, I'm not sure about it.

Bowman comes out 5/12/10--I'm not a prospector so I've never bought much Bowman.

Topps Series 2 comes out 5/24/10--I'll be buying some of this, but I think I'll be able to restrain myself a little better now that the newness of the MCG has worn off. Of course, I say that now, we'll see when it comes out.

Allen & Ginter comes out 6/27/10--Now that gets me going. I'm going to throw my hat in the Gint-A-Cuff ring this year (I know Beardy already teased it once). A couple of guys are going halvsies on a case and I think I may do something along those lines as well.

I guess the good thing about this down period and lack of new product is that I'm saving money for A&G. I do have the most unorganized collection in the state of Texas so I suppose I should be doing something about that. Some of the wantlists other bloggers have are incredibly detailed and the stuff dreams are made of...or somesuch. I think that's where I'll put my time while I wait for the next release. After all, how will all the great traders among you know what to send if you don't know what I need.

  2. I feel it too, man. I think this is the result of exclusivity. It blows. Not nearly enough variety in new product.
