A package from Dad

No, not my dad.

I'm talking about Baseball Dad from All Tribe Baseball. Dad recently offered up the team sets from his Diamond Giveaway set. It was a very generous offer and a number of people took him up on it, but I think he has some team sets left. I requested the Rangers and after allowing some time for others to jump in, I also took the unclaimed Twins.

I'm sure by now most of you have seen the cards from the Diamond Giveaway set. The have that foil stamped "Topps Diamond Giveaway" logo in the upper left corner. They also have the words "Factory Set Limited Edition" above player's name.

The logo is a little tough to see on this Joe Mauer card. That card is the reason I asked for the Twins.

The logo is a little easier to see on this Michael Young card. I want to thank Baseball Dad again for sharing this set with everyone. It's going to look good in the binder. Not that I needed yet another parallel of a 2011 set, but Topps doesn't seem to consider my opinions when they develop products.

If you read this post by Night Owl, you already know Baseball Dad included a pack of 2003 Donruss Estrellas with these packages. It wasn't until I read that post that I knew these packs came with a poster. I was excited to see Night Owl's poster turned out to be Roberto Clemente. I was hoping for some of that good mojo too.

I didn't get it.

Here are the base cards from my pack.

Francisco Rodriguez--Angels
Sammy Sosa--Cubs
Jorge Posada--Yankees
Jose Vidro--Expos
Ryan Klesko--Padres

I got one insert called Estrellas. It was, of course, a Yankee, which I'm sure I can trade. I don't know how "tough" a pull this is, but even Jeter was better than the subject on the poster.

Here we go...

Ah yes, Barry Bonds. I may have to set this aside for a certain Giants fan I recently traded with. Or I may have to set this on fire. All in all, it was kind of fun to open the older pack. I didn't pull a Dodger to trade to Night Owl for the Juan Gonzalez he pulled. Oh well, next time.

Jack, thanks for the cards!
