Catchy post title right? Well, that's how I do things around here. (Funny how when you right something you think is clever and you go back and read it, but the tone doesn't come through) I had planned to post this after I finished the riveting "about me" series of posts, but I was inspired by one of my trading partners to post it today. If you aren't already reading Hey That's Mine! then you should check it out. It is a fun blog and I like it for several reasons. He's local to my area, he's a Rangers fan and most of all, he has his kids involved in the hobby. THAT is how baseball card collecting will survive--older collectors getting their kids hooked on cards. I'm trying to do that with my boys with some success, the older is getting into it, the younger just wants Mario cards (think Nintendo, Wii, etc.) Hey That's Mine had a post today about collecting cards with catchers wearing their gear. As you can see by all the cards I've scanned (WHAT, they aren't there???) my blog "theme" is plays at the plate. I simply love the catcher position. That may have something to do with me playing catcher in Little League. I love the equipment, the collisions at the plate, the whole package. I think watching Pudge Rodriguez all those years in his prime helped my love for that position grow. Seeing him gun down runners at first base after a pitch was great.
I'll be looking to add cards of plays at the plate to my collection. I already have some to scan in and three that I really love are highlighted over at Night Owl's Cardboard Appreciation Poll. You should definitely vote in that poll if you haven't already. I have those three and will be looking to add others via trade so hook a blogger up! Derek over at Hey That's Mine, I've been setting aside catcher cards as I go along, so I've already got a bunch of doubles with your name on them!
