Don't use those Jedi mind tricks on me

Every time I turn around I'm experiencing another round of blogger generosity.  The latest round, which is spreading like wildfire, is courtesy of JediJeff from 2X3 Heroes.  Jeff spent somewhere near $200 mailing out his 'Tis the Season packages to people all over the place.

My package had 6 team bags stuffed full of Rangers and Twins.  I could have scanned page after page of cards, but "ain't nobody got time for that".  I did pick out some that caught my eye.

It's not often I run across a Joe Mauer card that I've never seen.  This is a great shot. The Jacob's Field logo is in the dugout and it looks like Joe is about to trip over a glove on the step.

How about some junk wax?  That is THE most mis-cut 1988 Donruss card I've ever seen and I love it.  I think it's the chew in Brower's mouth.

Someone has to warm the pitcher up when the starting catcher makes the last out.

There's gold in them thar hills.

I met Johnny Oates just before his first season as manager of the Rangers.  He made an appearance at a card show and I guess I was running late for his line because he was just sitting there by himself.  He signed a ball for me and we talked for about 10 minutes.  It probably didn't mean anything to him, but it was a treat for me.

Umm...not anymore.

Hey, I'm Yu Darvish and someone had to buy a "money grab" box of Update to pull this.

This is a great shot EXCEPT for the batter's BIG OLD BUTT being in the picture.  That's terrible.  It is a Target parallel so I needed it.

I've yet to sift through all the cards to see how many were on my want list, but I'm sure there were a bunch.

Thanks for the generosity Jeff!

  1. I went through a lot of 88 Donruss in the day and that is by far the most miscut I've ever seen. Its a beauty.

  2. It was JUST NOT miscut enough to make it into my miscut binder. If it showed a little bit of the next card on the sheet I would have kept it. Glad you liked the cards.
