Three different fonts/locations for card numbers Two instances of shared card numbers Multiple instances of repeating players that didn't change teams from Series 2. Short prints of base cards that look like a base card with a better photo. The second appearance of rookies on the ridiculous "Rookie Debut" cards. The most phoned in set that I think Topps has ever done, and that is saying something.
I hate to give it to Panini, because they do a hell of a job with their football products, but Donruss was so damn boring. Plus, you don't just do a series two with most of the players you had in series one. That defeats the purpose entirely.
Topps Turkey Red. I hate the exclusiveness of it and I think the design was horrible this year. In my opinion, this ship has sailed and Topps should think twice about bringing it back for another go around in 2015
Donruss. They do have a few cards that are perfect as far as the angle and stance that hides the obvious fact they cant use logos so that you dont even think about it.
This is tough as there are so many I don't buy. I would say Bowman because I don't buy it and still don't really understand half the cards, but the design was really good this year. I suppose I'll jump on the Donruss train.
Ginter because the design disappoints me. But I still like Ginter, it's just the only product I can readily think of that I would consider buying that I thought let us down.
Gypsy Queen. Going on two years now that I haven't bought a pack of the stuff. Only picked up the singles I needed for my player collections (Andrew Cashner and Tony Gwynn), didn't even bother with a Padres team set of it.
The one that annoyed me the most and really made me stop buying cards in unopened packs (except for Gint-A-Cuffs) was Archives. I still don't get why there are so many Yankees or former Yankees in that set. If that's what Topps wants to do, release a "Topps Yankees" set.
Could be any of Heritage, Archives, Gypsy Queen, depending on which way the wind is blowing when you ask. The former is just tremendously boring, the middle is just a weird, nonsensical mishmash of random crap, and the latter is an embarrassingly lazy rehash of Allen & Ginter that somehow carries on despite the goodwill of it's loaded first year iteration having long since worn off.
I'm usually bored with Bowman and this year is no different. The whole product line is rediculous.
ReplyDeleteDonruss, by far.
ReplyDeleteSee my comment on the previous post. Only I'm not joking this time.
ReplyDeleteDonruss
ReplyDeleteTopps Dynasty, five star, or any other uber expensive cards that I'll never be able to buy!!
ReplyDeleteAs always, Topps Archives. Same concept as Heritage, but split into four different years. My OCD makes me what to go mad when looking at those things.
ReplyDeleteI am going with Bowman, the numbering and different types of cards/sets is so confusing.
ReplyDeleteLeast favorite of the "common" sets was Topps flagship for me.
ReplyDeletePanini Prizm.
ReplyDeleteTopps Update in a landslide. Ugh, where to begin.

ReplyDeleteA&G. Not my cup of tea.

ReplyDeleteI'd have to go with Gypsy Queen. That set just doesn't do it for me.
ReplyDeleteIf the GQ inserts weren't so cool it would be the worst for me. Until then, it's Heritage...the most pointless product every year.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the Heritage cards.
ReplyDeleteTopps Archives. I love the idea, but horrible execution.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of Topps Dynasy cracks me up. One card =$350. Just odd.
ReplyDeleteArchives. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteNever been a fan of A&G.
ReplyDeleteArchives. I'm yet to buy even one card.
ReplyDeleteDonruss
ReplyDeletePanini Prizm is ugly and I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteDonruss.I can't wait until there are multiple companies again with licenses to make MLB cards.

ReplyDeleteBowman Sterling, ugly design, sticker autos, total waste of time.
ReplyDeleteFor the second straight year, Topps Archives.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a fan of Donruss...but I don't like the way the cards look now.

ReplyDeletePrizm
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at just how ugly they look.
Prizm
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going with Prizm also. It slightly edges out the Chrome sets of Topps and Bowman.
ReplyDeletedonruss. and i thought i might like a 1978 topps/1987 donruss mash-up design at first.
ReplyDeleteUpdate, I guess.
ReplyDeleteall the card sets that have all the non sport, monuments, dead people, history lessons etc. in them
ReplyDeleteAll of them.
