Play at the Plate New Year Contest Super-Mega Bonus Question
If I won $250 million in the Powerball lottery and invited 20 of my blogging friends to the National for a shopping spree, would you want to be invited? :)
Having that much of a bankroll would take a lot of the fun out of collecting for me. I mean how can you truly desire something if you can buy practically anything you want. So hypothetically I would have to say no.
That being said, in the real world, of course I would say yes. I might feel a little bad afterwards, but I'd have a helluva lot of fun during.
The honor would be in simply being considered to be one of your blogging friends. The icing on the cake would be that awesome shopping spree at the National.
Hell yeah! Just going to the National would be awesome. And living vicariously through others is part of the draw of reading others' blogs. Doing it in person would be just as much fun.
I would love to go, but I suspect you wouldn't want me there once I showed up. I imagine the conversations to go something like this: "Hi guys - my wife said I had to bring the kids if I wanted to come, so they'll just be tagging along with us." "Does anybody have any snacks?" "Eww...my hands are covered in Cheetos powder. I'll just go wipe those on the Ty Cobb jersey...." "Can we stop looking at cards and go to Cheesecake Factory instead?" "All this guy has is T-206's. And there's not even any Royals in that set! Lame." "Can I get a little extra money to spend, please? My baby just drooled on all the Goudeys and this dealer is REALLY mad." "I've finally found my white whale! A gem mint 1987 Topps set!"
Yeah. I don't even need the spree really (not that I'd be able turn that part down of course). I've been wanting to go for years, so just the chance to attend the show would be good enough for me. Anything else is just icing on the cake of generosity.
Uh, yup.
ReplyDeleteHaha, of course! How could I say no to that?
ReplyDeleteOf course!
ReplyDeleteNo. A giant card show like that doesn't impress me. I'm just a simple collector, just looking for base cards to possibly get signed, that's all.
ReplyDeleteYes, sir.
ReplyDeleteOf course!

How is this even a question?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE!!!
as it would probably bee the only way I'd ever get there, Of course I would love to attend with you...
ReplyDeleteNo. I'd only want to be invited if you won $300 million in powerball ...
ReplyDeleteOf course I would want an invite!

ReplyDeleteYES, going to be tons of fun !!
ReplyDeleteI don't see why not.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I'd liked to be stranded on a desert island with Kate Upton and Alison Brie for the rest of my days.
ReplyDeleteI'll just send my wantlist with another blogger.
ReplyDeleteJust kidding, I'd be all in.
yes, and i would also like to get first dibs on all of the vintage. all of it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely I would. I've wanted to go to The National since I heard about it two years ago. Just the chance to go would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm the 21st "yes" comment; looks like I'm out of luck when you hit it big.
ReplyDeleteI would EXPECT to be invited. I would then mount my unicorn and ride my way to The National.
ReplyDeleteHeck yes!
ReplyDeleteOh my yes!

Is there, like, a twist to this? Like, whoever says yes is eliminated, or arrested for fraud or something?
ReplyDeleteBecause if not, then of course I'm in.
Why yes, I would like to join you.

ReplyDeleteDuh.
ReplyDeleteI dream of going to the National. Counting the days until the 2016 event in Atlantic City, which will be my first time attending one.
ReplyDeleteUMMMMM HELL YEAH!
ReplyDeleteHeck ya!,, I hear they have good autograph signings at that thing.
ReplyDeleteOf course! Dream come true!
ReplyDeleteIs this really a question? Of course!
ReplyDeleteI'd love the invite, but realistically I think I'd fall outside of the Top 20.
ReplyDeleteContest closed. Thanks everyone!
