Winning is fun. Winning twice is funner.

I've been pretty lucky when it comes to winning contests around the blogosphere. I think that's part of the reason I like to hold monthly contests. I recently won two different contests. Well, I won one and got second in one, but I got good stuff in both cases.

The first contest was over at Rants, Reviews and Fandom. Trey was trying to drum up a few more followers and gave away some good stuff. I won second place in the drawing and got these two cards.

This 2008 UD Masterpieces Lance Berkman jersey card is fat. A fat Fat Elvis.

This is a first for me. I didn't pull any of these 2011 Topps Leather Nameplates, but I might be able to use this David Price to get a Ranger I need.

Many thanks to Trey for holding a great contest.

The second contest I won was from the UK blog Arbitrary Crap. You should go check out Martyn's site and follow him while you're there. I won a contest because I picked the winner of a game and one of the player's who homered. It didn't hurt that I was the only person who entered, but I still got the answer right. This is the card that Martyn was giving away.

I guess Martyn couldn't redeem the card because he lives in the UK, but I was glad to win it. We decided to up the ante a bit and turn this into a trade. He sent over a couple of other cards in exchange for some cards he needed.

I got this nice 2010 Topps 206 Neftali Feliz Chrome Refractor #162/199 for my collection.

I would never try to collect this impossible set, but this #1/10 Alfonso Soriano from 2008 Moments and Milestones is one of my lowest numbered Rangers.

Thanks for the great cards Martyn. I appreciate them and hope your blog is a big success.

  2. I redeemed that very same Brandon Hicks redemption card...and Topps screwed me over. Good luck to who ever tries to redeem that card.
