Tinkering

I've been writing Play at the Plate since October of 2009.  I've never made any serious changes to the design, but I will occasionally change the play at the plate card on the header.  I only recently looked at the blog in the "view blog" mode and I really was taken aback at how institutional it looked.  The gray background was uninviting and reminded me of a prison.  Not that I've been in prison.

Anyway, I normally only do the preview or look at the blog on my phone and it doesn't show up the way you might view it on your computer.  I'll probably tinker around with it some more, but I'm deathly afraid of losing everything I've ever written so I don't know how much I can do without losing stuff.

I'd like to do a custom background using a photo I took myself, but I need to figure out how to do that.  It's a work in progress, so don't mind the dust when you read.   I'm trying to improve the "experience" for the dear reader.  That's you of course.

Thanks for visiting the "prison" all these months.  I'm sorry you had to stare at all that gray!

Any thoughts, suggestions, tips, comments or criticism (constructive or otherwise) is greatly appreciated.

  1. Tinker away. I need to do more tinkering with my blog as well.

Thats a nice baseball themed background, its calm a little too calm for a "play at the plate".

As for the background pic and changing that it might depend on the type of template you are using. I've noticed some of the styles let you change almost everything and others don't let you do anything except change some color here and maybe there.
