Play at the Plate New Year Contest Question 3

What was your favorite card product of 2014?

  1. Without a doubt, 2014 Stadium Club. More effort than Topps has put into a product in years, and for that, I'm grateful. The photography was inspired, the design was simple enough, and I enjoyed collecting the set (though I'm still working on completing the base set).

    1. I agree. Topps brought its "A-game" with the photo selection in Stadium Club. I may be wrong, but I don't think I had seen any of the photo selections used before.

  2. I wish I could have bought some Stadium Club. I think this year's stuff is pretty nice. But I enjoyed getting the full set of this year's Calbee releases more!

  3. I feel bad for not picking Heritage since '65 is my all-time favorite Topps design, but Stadium Club really was the best set of the year.

  4. Panini Donruss.

    JOKING!

    Stadium Club

  5. I'm a sucker for the cheap stuff and am going with the Opening Day set. Love the mascots!

  6. Going to continue the Stadium Club love fest.

  7. Stadium Club, though I may change my mind after I open the two Topps High TEK boxes that are still sitting on my desk for my group break...

  8. I realize Stadium Club is at the top of nearly everyone's list, but I have only gotten the Rockies and they were nothing special. My vote goes to Archives just because of the 1986 design.

  9. I have to side with the popular crowd and go with 2014 Stadium Club.

  10. I'm going to follow everyone else and go with stadium club

  11. Allen & Ginter...it's always my favorite.

  12. I liked the regular Bowman cards.

  13. Stadium Club. If only they had it in retail.

  14. Stadium Club. Great photography, on card autos, nice price. It had it all.

  15. I'm with the majority, I love the looks of the Stadium Club cards.

  16. I'm still opening my box but I'm pretty jazzed about Stadium Club. If the Winter Olympics cards were this year (I can't remember) they'd be second.

  17. I liked Stadium Club this year. In another year it might have been Archives, but Topps made changes to the base set that I didn't like (specifically using the same designs for the SPs as they did on the base set instead of a mix of all different years like they did in 2012 and 2013) and the Major League autographs pushed box prices too high for me in 2014.

  18. I'm going to have to agree with the majority here and go with Stadium Club even though I didn't pick up any until 2015.

  19. I'm going with Gypsy Queens , only for the fact I did not purchase any others this year and have not seen any others ( besides Topps base )

  20. Gypsy Queen, this year and every year it seems.

  21. Stadium Club? Wish I could lay my hands on some of that.

I'll go with Donruss just because it was something new and not Topps.

  22. I always like Topps Finest, but I'm always lacking in getting my hands on them

  23. If anybody doesn't say Stadium Club, they work for Panini.

So yeah, Stadium Club. Finest was great, too, but not even close.

  24. I didn't buy any but Stadium Club's design and photograph was just phenomenal.

  25. I'd go with Stadium Club, but they only had ONE Padre card (Tony Gwynn), and I can't buy any because I don't live near a hobby shop, so Heritage gets the nod for me. But maybe I'll have to cherry pick some singles from TSC because that's what all the cool kids are saying.

  26. I would say Stadium Club as well, but I haven't gotten any of those and haven't bought or scene any except online. So, I'll go with Finest -- nice colors, decent set.

  27. I barely opened anything new this year, but Stadium Club is the one I'm jonesing for most, followed by Finest and Allen & Ginter.

  28. Yup, Stadium Club, hands down. Great base cards and fun inserts is always what I'm looking for in a product.

  29. Stadium Club. I like what I have seen even though I have yet to obtain some. I got skunked on a box break and have not gotten around to buying or trading for them. The shots for a lot of the cards look great.

  30. I'm not following the crowd, I think I have to say Stadium Club as well. The photos were just too good compared to other sets. I will admit I liked Donruss, but no way it compares to Stadium Club.

  31. stadium club, even though i just cherry picked singles on sportlots

  32. I might have to say Archives, even with it missing the mark again, I'm still a sucker for it.
