Strat-O-Matic Baseball:Negro League Edition

I recently heard the tail end of a radio story about Strat-O-Matic putting out a Negro League Baseball Set. I hadn't thought of Strat-O-Matic in years. I never played as a kid, but my older brothers did. I wish I could track down some of those old card sets they used.

If you've never heard of Strat-O-Matic, you can go here to see the Negro League cards and check out what it's all about. Apparently they still have the board games or you can play online.

Does anyone out there have any of those old sets? Did/Do you play the game?

  1. You can still buy some of the old sets online. They don't have every team/year, but they have quite a few.

The only complete years I have are '92, '98, and '06, plus a couple of random teams.

  2. I have played some but don't have any.

My dad played out the whole 1971 season I think. It took him ten years! He wore out the bedroom carpet from sitting there all that time.

  3. I have a set from the late '80s and I played a bit. I was more a fan of Avalon Hill's Statis-Pro baseball though. The instructions had a section with formulas where you could make your own cards, something you could never do with Strat-O-Matic.
