Answering your questions

A couple of days ago, I invited you to ask me any question you wanted to ask. I figured it was only fair considering I ask you questions all the time. It's not too late to get your question in, but I thought I would take a few minutes to answer a question or 3.

I'm not necessarily going to be answering the questions in order, but I will answer all of them. Some of them will require me to be back where I can get to my cards so I'll get to them next week. Let's do this, shall we?

1. Captain Canuck: "I haven't won one of your contests since 2010. Why?"

First of all, many people have never won one of my contests, so consider yourself lucky. Second, I'm pretty sure the Gremlins at random.org don't like Canadians. Or it could be they don't know what a Canuck is and therefore refuse to let you win. At any rate, I hope you win again soon. You are one of the faithful entrants and I greatly appreciate it. Even if the Gremlins don't.

2. Night Owl: "What's it like to be able to play baseball in November?"

It's great. It's cool, almost brisk out and the kids love it. The parents love it. The only problem is we can't play baseball in the summer. Our city league is a Spring/Fall league. It's too bloody hot here in the summer. Last year, we had something like 80 days over 100 degrees. It's insane. But we do get to play baseball in November.

Now, if you were talking about the Rangers playing in November, it's FREAKIN' AWESOME and I'm looking forward to them doing it again this year!

3. AdamE: "You have any Red Sox stuff to trade cause I picked up some Rangers parallels?"

Absolutely. I'll hit you up when I get back to my cards.

4. Carlsonjok: "By how many points will Oklahoma beat Texas in this year's Red River Rivalry?"

Oklahoma will beat Texas by -17 points, which means the Longhorns will with 34-17!!

5. Josh D: "Why always "Play at the Plate"? Aren't there any good plays at 1st/2nd/3rd?? Do you have a favorite of those?"

It's always plays at the plate because catchers are my favorite. I was a catcher in Little League and I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I was good. I was one of the two best players in our town and playing catcher meant got to be in charge. It was great. My son also plays catcher and I've always been fascinated by their toughness and the "tools of ignorance". I know there are good double play cards and good play at other base cards and I'm sure I could find a few if I had the time and cards in front of me. I don't dislike those other cards, I just love a great play at the plate card. Heck, it doesn't even have to be great. But it helps.

Alright, I'll answer some more another day. Thanks for participating!

  1. Good post. I enjoyed it. I was a catcher growing up too. We have an over 30 baseball league and I've gotten to relive my childhodd and play a little catcher there too.
