March Contest Part 3: Gettin' the hits

I've done this before, but it's been awhile so I thought I'd bring it back.

We all have posts that don't get comments for whatever reason. If you have a post that didn't get any or many comments and you want to give that post a second chance to shine, put a link to it in the comments.

I'll try to go check out the links myself and see if this little experiment helps you get any more traffic.

  1. I've got many posts like that because sadly in the early days of my blog I had few if any followers and nobody saw my posts. It was difficult to choose but anyway lets go with this one about one of my many fave sets from Donruss the 2005 Donruss "Diamond Kings" set where I talk about a "Red" framed Nick Johnson card amongst others.

Like much of my collection I need to figure out exactly which ones of these I have and get the rest, at least the base set.

  2. Maybe this happens to most of us but I sometimes put a lot of time into a post only to find that no one seems to be interested. It makes me sad. Here's a recent one:

  3. I know I should comment more myself. I read as many posts as I can, but only manage to comment on a few. League Park, the original home of the Cleveland Indians, has a lot of history. It is now being renovated.

Considering how awesome the pull was (at the time), I'd expect more than 2 comments if I had my current number of followers.

  7. this is one I thought would illicit more responses, but actually received none:

But to honestly tell you, sometimes, when I only get 1 comment, it means more to me that what I've written has touched someone enough to leave me their thoughts or feelings on it

  14. I went through and couldn't find any except when I got to the point where you did this in a contest before.... no sense going back that far.

Now that I've said that, the next elevteen posts I do will receive no comments.

  16. I love this contest entry idea. Every one's a winner, and I get to check out cool posts I missed. I guess I'll link my Polk-themed President's Day post, which has a sweet They Might Be Giants song everyone should hear:

  17. I think I'll go back to the beginning of the Hot Stove season this year and a factoid that was interesting to me. This post is rather short and not one of my better writing jobs, but I do love the trivia aspect of it.

  18. Hmmm. I'm stuck between two. My most recent White Whale that was poached got little love, although in fairness there aren't a ton of hockey bloggers. But still, it was a HUGE pickup for me.

The other choice is an Alex Gordon on-card auto from '08 Masterpieces I acquired from Sam. That post got ZERO love. And yet the blogging community loves it some Masterpieces goodness.

  20. As some of you know I only recently entered the blogging world so it was a struggle to find a post with no comments, not because it is such a popular blog (just yet!) but I only have 25 or so post. But still I found one, so check out my Verlander and Sabathia additions !

  21. Most of my favorites in recent months have received at least one comment so I'll just take the opportunity to promote my little pet project and see if anyone cares about the Padres! Thanks!

  26. Just remember that if you aren't getting comments doesn't mean people aren't reading. What stops me from commenting more is that I use Snarfer for my feeds and leaving comments on a program that uses IE as its backend makes for a hassle because if you type wrong you can't backspace because it just goes back a page. That's why a lot of my comments aroung the 'sphere are mispeelled-because I have to leave them like that or refresh and do it again. PITA but what can you do. Just pointing out that the device people are using can factor into whether a comment will be left or not.

I'm not really worried if I get comments because I just blog because I'm into baseball cards and got tired of just reading blogs and not taking part.
