State O' the Sphere

I've noticed a significant decrease in the number of posts around the blogosphere in recent weeks. I assume, and I know how dangerous that can be, that it has more to do with baseball season ending than it does with bloggers kicking the habit. At least I hope that's the reason.

I know my posting has dropped off considerably this month, but that's due more to my scanner issues than a loss of interest in the hobby or my blog. The scanner issue is one I hope to have rectified soon. After all, I've received some very nice cards in the mail and I know you want to see them.

How about the rest of you fine bloggers? What's your story? Why the slowdown around the blogsosphere?

Of course, I know this doesn't apply to all of you and I don't mean it as a slight to anyone who's enjoying the offseason. I guess I'm being a bit selfish, hoping that it's nothing more than a temporary lull, because I really enjoy scrolling down the dashboard and reading all the great posts that you write.

While we're on the subject, I know there are a lot of people out there who are just reading the blogs. I was encouraged to start my own blog by some of the best bloggers out there and I think there are a lot of you readers who should start one too. Let your hobby voice be heard and show off those collections!

  3. it don't have anything to do with baseball season being over.....

with the Topps monopoly putting out crapola in baseball, Donini putting out crapola in football, and of course the money crunch at this time of year, there just isn't anything to post about.

the only place I'm really posting is on my hockey blog, and that doesn't interest most folks around the Mason-Dixon line...

  4. I've been able to keep up with the regular postings, three times each week on two different blogs.

However, with my vintage focus it's easier to plan the posts out ahead of time.

  5. I've been posting about once a day - not bad for this time of year...everyone is talking about taking finals, my days this week are spent GRADING finals - ugh!

  6. I haven't really noticed a slowdown. There are a handful of folks who were around when I first started who seem to have disappeared or slowed down immensely, but it seems others have jumped in to pick up the slack.

I don't consider the offseason or the lack of interesting new product an excuse not to post -- there is always something cool about cards, new or old. Doesn't always have to be the latest and greatest. In fact, I get bored when people only post when something new hits the shelves.

  7. Actually, my post totals have increased since the beginning of the month... but for the most part, things have been sort of slow. It is the holiday season after all... I should expect a heavy spike in January when everyone is showing off their gifts.

  10. Christmas, not feeling well, other projects taking priority, etc. There's certainly plenty to post about with the Celtics being Red Hot, the Patriots kicking ass, the Red Sox owning the offseason and me placing a fun order with Blowout on Black Friday. Alas, no time to write up posts which sucks.

  11. Finals, sick, upcoming vacations.

Dodgers' crappy moves putting me in a state of rage/apathy.

  12. Well....my problem is I live in the middle of AMISH WONDERLAND and the only place I have internet service is at work. If I work overnights then I have time to work on my blogs. If I'm working daylight hours then I don't even hardly get to see my email let alone work on the blog. In some ways I feel that I can no longer continue to be supporting TOPPS and the amount of overtime that THEIR crap machine has been making. Nor can I support the excuse of cards from that other bunch of excuses for "no efforts" PANINI . Therefore it has left me with an empty feeling like when you take a laxative that has a warning label on it that says: be seated before using.

  13. I had another month without posts, but similar to PATP, my scanner was out of commission. Back up and running now.

The down time did allow me to create another Ginter-esque code contest.

I also have time to pull off a couple trades with a few new bloggers/trade partners.

I know a couple of the blogs I was following have slowed/stopped in the past month. I suspect it will pick back up in spring.
