Limping into the break

I'm ecstatic that the Rangers were able to pick up this guy in a trade.

I've never been a big fan of trading away young talent to rent a player for a few months, but the Rangers have a real shot at winning the A.L. West this year. Everything I hear points to Cliff Lee signing with the Yankees in the offseason. He's buddies with C.C., has the same agent as a couple of other Yankees...etc. I hope he can work his special brand of magic for the Rangers for the remainder of the season and we'll see where it goes after that. I'm even willing to overlook his first appearance for the Rangers, a 6-1 complete game loss to the Orioles. The Freakin' Orioles!

How on earth do the Orioles, at 25-59, come into the Ballpark and sweep a 4 game series? No offense to Beardy, Ryan, the O's Blog and any other O's fans out there, but that is inexcusable. They made Corey Patterson look like a star. Yes, that Corey Patterson!

The disturbing thing is that the Rangers could have really put the Division away this last week. The Angels are 2-8 in their last 10 games. The Rangers still have their same 4.5 game lead so the one positive is that the Angels went into the tank when they did. Otherwise the Rangers might be looking up, or sideways at best, at the Angels.

  1. It's still one of those unexplainable things about the Orioles this year. Why couldn't they play like this 3 and a half months ago?

  2. I did a post on this today and it was the O's first 4 game road sweep since 1995
