Out like a lion, in like a lamb

The Rangers ended their amazing June going 21-6. The entered June a half game out of first and 2 games over .500. They exited June with 4.5 game lead and 17 games over .500.

Tommy Hunter had 4 victories and 4 other pitchers had 3 victories apiece.

Neftali Feliz had 8 saves.

Rangers hitters were going bonkers. They outscored opponents 177-100 in the 25 games, averaging just over 7 runs per game.

Josh Hamilton had a 23 game hitting streak, batting .454 with 9 homers and 31 RBIs in the month.

Michael Young hit .328 with 6 homers and 22 RBIs.

Former Ranger Killer Vladimir Guerrero chipped in nicely batting .356 with 6 homers and 24 RBIs.

Overall, the best month in Rangers history. The .778 winning percentage tops their April 1989 (.773).

Now, it's only been one game, but their July is off to a different start.

Jered Weaver and his fellow Angels squeaked out a July 1st 2-1 victory over the Rangers. Rangers hitters only managed 4 hits last night. The Angels closed the gap to 3 1/2 games and the Rangers come home, where they are 28-12, to face another hot team, the Chicago White Sox. They follow that up with 3 against Cleveland and 4 against Baltimore.

I'm hoping they continue playing like they did in June and the summer swoon doesn't start in July. Apparently, the Rangers think new catcher Bengie Molina will help. Only time will tell.
