Bud "Issues" Bip Free Package

Late last week I got a very suspicious package. The return address said:

Not Bud Bareither
Not (his address)
Not (his town)

And it said "RE: No Bips Here!"

My first reaction was to call Homeland Security. Then I called Thorzul. Well, I thought it was Thorzul until I realized I didn't have his number and I had actually called my mom at 3 in the morning. After carefully opening the package from Bud over at First Day Issue, my mind was put at ease. Good old Bud....his note said "Why you ask? Because I can." You see, we didn't have a trade going, but he sent me a few very nice goodies anyway.

I've got a football post coming tomorrow (you'll want to read it, even if you're just a baseball fan) so I won't show the cool Cowboys cards. Well, I was going to show them, but when I showed my son, he took them and put them in his binder before I could stop him so I don't have scans of those cards. I just have two pics.

Nice. A 2010 Turkey Red Ian Kinsler. That is one more off the wantlist and just happens to be a team/player favorite.

This was the shocker! A 2002 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Johnny Estrada game worn shin guard. I had NO idea these even existed. I would rather have actual equipment on a card than another generic bat. I really like this card, even though I'm not a Phillies fan. If there are other cards of catchers with game used catching equipment, I want them, regardless of team or player.

Bud, thanks for the surprise "bip-free" package and for introducing me to a whole new kind of card!

  1. I like the game used equipment too. I never saw a shin guard though. I have cards with batting gloves, helmets, fielding gloves, hats, and shoes. I also have football with face masks.

  2. Wow, that's really cool. I knew there were chest protector swatches, but shin guards is a new one on me. :)

  3. Haha! I knew you would love it! The shin protectors were tough to track down; I had it from when I was trying to complete a set of all possible memorabilia pieces (which I'm doing with Griffey now). I hope you know that I respect you too much to ever bip you Brian. Have a great weekend!

  4. Wow, that's the first non-bat other than a jersey relic I've seen. And it's a Phillie, too cool!! May have to find one of these for my collection. Wonder if Chooch has one??
