Bud Selig and MLB did everything short of storm the door of the courthouse in Ft. Worth to ensure the Nolan Ryan/Chuck Greenberg group won the right to buy the Texas Rangers. I feel safe in saying if the Mark Cuban group had won the auction, MLB would have tied them up in court indefinetly to protect it's right to choose team owners. However, since Ryan, Greenberg and their billionaire buddies won the auction, it didn't take Bud and MLB long to approve the new owners.
You can read the approval story here if you're so inclined.
I'm excited for what the future holds for the Texas Rangers. Not just for this season, but for years to come. Nolan Ryan has said repeatedly that the new owners are committed to enhancing the fan experience at the Ballpark. I'm all for that, and it starts with putting a winning product on the field. Everything else is just icing on the cake.
