June 25, 1986 Montreal Expos vs. New York Mets
We come to the bottom of the 4th inning with the Mets trailing the Expos 2-0.
Andy McGaffigan is on the mound for Montreal. Keith Hernandez leads of the inning with a groundout. Darryl Strawberry follows that with a double. George Foster grounds out, moving Strawberry to third. Kevin Mitchell doubles to left, scoring Strawberry. Ray Knight steps to the plate and promptly smacks a groundball single to left. Tim Raines comes up firing and this is what happens next:
Kevin Mitchell is SAFE and Mike Fitzgerald is swallowed by a dust storm. Ray Knight goes to 2nd on the throw. Ed Hearn is up next and draws a walk. Mets Pitcher Sid Fernandez gets a single to left, scoring Knight and giving the Mets a 3-2 lead. Lenny Dykstra smacks a double to center. Fernandez gets caught in a rundown and is out CF-3B-SS-C-P-3B. Fernandez prolongs the rundown long enough for Hearn to score and the Mets go on to win 5-2.
Is it just me or does Kevin Mitchell remind you of someone....?
