What product do you most look forward to each year?

Is it something that comes out every year, like a flagship set? Is it a retro set like Heritage or Allen & Ginter? Maybe you're hoping for Topps to put out something completely new and not based on a retro set.

Things have really changed since Topps got the baseball exclusive. If the exclusive deal means I get fewer choices, but they choices have top-notch designs and great photography (or art) then I'm fine with it. If not....well, I'd rather have more to choose from and pick and choose what I want.

Let's look at this from another angle. Perhaps you aren't looking forward to anything that is scheduled for release in 2010.

Do you have a favorite release from the past 10 years? I've been seeing more and more boxes from 2000-2009 busted on the blogs than ever. Sometimes I wonder how many more cases of Masterpieces there can be with all the boxes I've seen opened recently. Go to one of the numerous on-line sources or support your local shop, but buy something that get's you excited. I'm talking about cards here. If nothing new gets the collector in you fired up, then find one of those boxes from years past and bust it open. There must be SOMETHING out there you liked or you would have dropped out of the hobby long ago. I love vintage cards, but there's nothing like ripping wax (or cello or foil, whatever they're packing cards in these days). Unless you're saving your hobby dollars for a shopping sprees ala the latest Blog Bat Around, you should be able to find something that renews your hobby energy. Go for it....and blog about it! We all want to know what you find.

  1. I look forward to Bowman every year. It was really in its heyday in the early 2000s but now it really isnt as good as it used to be. I personally think that it should go back to a 1 series set that is released in November or December as a year end wrap up of all of the rookie cards in a neat bow. That way it could truly be "Home of the Rookie Card" again. Other than Bowman I look forward to regular Topps and used to look forward to regular Upper Deck.

  2. I love the Bowman product. It should be a solid product this year! 2 more days I'm pretty sure.

  3. Allen & Ginter. It's the only hobby box I will buy this year at full retail.

  4. I'm with Dayf, I'm only buying one box this year and it is A&G. I'm spending the rest of my card money on vitage.

  5. A&G likely will be the only hobby box I buy as well. But who knows?

  6. Been buying a ton of Finest (03, 04 specifically) along with Chrome products from ten years ago (just got a box of '99 Bowman Chrome). I might pick up some Ginter... have never been a fan of A&G (don't throw things at me). The designs barely change from year to year.
