How do you update your wantlists?

When I finally did my Rangers wantlists, I wrote them as Word documents then copied and pasted them into my "Wantlist" posts. The problem I'm having is keeping the lists updated.

How do you update your lists? Do you just update the list itself? I feel the need to update my Word document first and then copy and paste it all over again. It's actually a hassle because I have to be at a specific computer to update the lists.

I feel like there is a simpler way to do this and I'm just not seeing it.

  1. I just update my lists directly on the page I have on my blog, but if you want to keep a copy in Word and access it from anywhere, just install Dropbox. Also, please shoot me your address when you get a chance.

  2. I have three separate lists that I check off when I get any cards.

First, I manually mark off my online master lists that I have finished for trading purposes.

Second, I bold my word document semi-finished checklists for my purposes.

Third, I add to my Excel spreadsheet of my list of players basically just a counting exercise to see how many of each Rockies player I have.

It's a lot to do, but it helps so much with organization.

  3. You can also keep you list in Google Docs instead of Word, which will allow you to access it from any computer.

  4. I keep my list as a post on my blog. It makes it easy for me to keep track of what I need no matter where I am (I can check my own blog on my phone if I have to).

  5. I use zistle.com. I also wrote a program that takes their exported format and makes it friendlier for someone to read. I keep Zistle up to date and just repost my want list page occasionally.

  6. Sporadically.

I really need to jump on the Google Docs train. It would make things a lot easier.

  8. First step is to update the blog page the wantlist is on. Next is to update the checklist and delete from the wantlist on my excel spreadsheets. After those three steps the cards head for the binders. Last step is to send myself the updated wantlists in an e-mail so that I always have them on my phone if I ever have the extra time to stop at a card store if I find one in my travels.
I agree that I too need to jump on the Google Docs so I can update everything from the phone too.

  9. I have mine as a separate page on my blog. When I get a card I just delete it from the page. The page can be accessed from my phone, iPad, computer...anything with the internet. No need for a second document to exist anywhere else.

  10. I used to have my list on blog posts and also an excel one. I got so tired of updating both I went to Google Docs. It was easy for me cause Excel uploaded straight to Google. I bet Word will also then all you would have to do is change the links on your blog.

    I like my final product.

  11. I'm on the Google Docs bus as well. I still keep a master list on my laptop for safe keeping. I'm still learning about all this "cloud" stuff!

  12. I update my wantlists directly on my website. But I understand the risks... if my site ever crashes... I'm screwed.
